Originally from South Carolina, Acey has lived in New England for 20 years and received her Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.  A licensed professional counselor (LPC), Acey has worked at Wheelock College in Boston, MA and Eastern CT State University in Willimantic, CT and holds a particular affinity for the young adult population.

Acey has attended many conferences and trainings around the topic of social justice in an effort to increase her self-awareness and better serve the clients she works with.  She also has experience working with individuals who are undocumented as well as international clients.  Acey has a particular interest in sexual and gender identity formation and has many years experience supporting clients through this ongoing process of discovery.  

Acey's work is highly influenced by relational, attachment, and developmental theory.  She believes in the power of relationship to facilitate growth, healing, and views herself as a partner with, and not an authority over, the individuals she works with.  Strengths-based with a focus on utilizing adaptive coping skills, Acey also enjoys facilitating group therapy due to the relationships that are developed as a means of support and healing around topics such as grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
